Some thoughts about The Flash Annual #3

The Future Flash is desperate to fix the past no matter the promises he made before about never do it again.

Something happened to Barry Allen to make that kind of decision, the life of Wally West was lost in a car accident that could have been prevented by The Flash but that's not the only problem, the Speed Force is broken and the Barry from twenty years in the future will have to commit crimes that he swore he never would.

All right guys, this is the big one, I know what all of you're expecting here so I won't beat aound the bush: Wally West appears here, he's a bi-racial, twelve years old kid who has problems with authority but fortunately, authors Robert Venditti and Van Jensen do a justifiable reason based on what happened in this same volume. Wally's appearance is short but I would say that hi attitude remembers me a lot of his portrayal in Mark Waid's Born to Run origin story which was about a pretty hotheaded kid. Let's see how they handled it in future issues.

About the story, it has a lot of potential. Venditti and Jensen play with the strenght of Barry's character by mixing the crime investigation aspects of the characters and the classic superheroics and Speed Force mythos, I especially liked some of The Rogues they introduced here along with some interesting twists about the Speed Force and every people that have used it either in the past or the future. They're already creating many sub-plots from different segments and I really appreciate it.

The artwork from the present segments are handled by Ron Frenz who does a solid job at depicting the characters but the real spectacle here are Brett Booth sections from the future where we see a lot od kinetic action and effects, his work is much better here than in the previous issue.

Anyway, a pretty good and content-packed Annual. Let's see how the story developes in future issues.
