Kyle Rayner is back to earth but somehow that doesn't seem right.
Carol Ferris is trying to return to her normal life after spending so much time in space but she quickly realizes that this life is not the right one for her anymore and so she starts looking for Kyle but what she will find will be something completely different from what she was expecting.
Couldn't say much without spoiling the whole story but what I can say is that I truly loved this Annual. Even if you may not have noticed, writer Justin Jordan has been actually developing some pretty interesting sub-plots since the start from his run and the story that it's present here is one that had its roots in Green Lantern Annual #2.
It wasn't pretty obvious at first but there has been always a hint about how the ending of that Annual affected Kyle and we finally see the ramifications of such event for him. The Source Wall obviously altered his powers not only in a positive way but also in a negative one and it's great to see how it was manifested in this plot.
Another thing that it's worth noting is how Kyle and Carol's relationship has been developing over the course of the run and finally in this tale we see the climax of all that character work which makes pretty satisfied since Jordan didn't rush it, he took his time to make it feel real.
Oh, and Oblivion is a pretty cool name considering Kyle's past as Ion.
Stephen Segovia, Edgar Slazar and Jeo Dougherty share art duties in this issue and all of them do a pretty good and consisten job overall. However, I must say that Segovia's work was my favorite by far, his characters were simply beautiful.
Excellent Annual and creates the next stage of development for Kyle Rayner. What are you waiting for? Go check it out!
