Some thoughts about Superboy #30

It's a new beginning for Superboy, at least for this version of him.

John Lane Kent has arrived from the terrible future where he was trapped along the Teen Titans and he's about to meet a brand new Star Labs which are planning to set his life in the right direction. However, can Superboy be truly free from consequences after his most recent actions?

This is the first issue from the new run handled by Aaron Kuder, Kuder has been working mostly as an artist, and a quite good at that, but not so much as a writer aside from a pretty good one-shot based on the villain Parasite, so how does he fares here?

Honestly, I thought this was one of the best issues of Superboy I've read in a while. While Kuder focuses in the John version of Superboy instead of Kon-El, you can certainly see really good aspects about his characterization and how his motivations push his actions.

However, the best aspect of this issue for me were the ideas that it brought. A new Star Labs was introduced here along with a new Guardian and even a set of supporting cast, that's a really good addition to the series. Not to mention, the concept of alternate Superboys torturing John it's one that has a lot of potential.

Jorge Jimenez is in charge of art duties and his work is pretty competent. His characters are expressive enough and the action is also depicted pretty intensely.

Promising new issue definitely, let's see where it goes.
