Some thoughts about Detective Comics #30

A new mystery is rising in Gotham City.

A drug called Icarus has been circulating on the streets for a while and it's even more dangerous than the common ones. Bruce will have to stop the criminals who are commercializing it and they may have something to do with the people he just met.

The beginning of the run handled by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato who got famous thanks for their work in The Flash and it's a pretty promising one.

Both creators focus on some segments of Gotham City including the common people and some new faces including a woman named Helena Aguila and her daughter Annie. The mystery is well presented and this team gives you enough clues to understand where it's going, add to that the character segments where Bruce reflects about his relationship with his son and you get a quite solid story.

However, the best aspect of this issue is definitely the art. Francis Manapul's pencils are wonderful and they tell the story in a quite creative and experimental way by making every detail as clear as possible. Brian Buccellato also deserves props for complementing this work with excellent colors.

Quite interesting issue that promises a lot of potential.
