Batgirl will have to team-up with Poison Ivy if she wants to save people from strange experiments that are being conducted to them, but can she really trust her?
Barbara Gordon knows that Pamela Isley is not trustworthy after her actions when both were part of the Birds of Prey, but now she will be forced to help one another is they want to stop the mysterious Mister Rain and the terrible thing he's doing to human beings.
I must say that I didn't really want to check this Annual at first since I'm not an usual Batgirl reader but I was interested since it seemed like this story would bring some closurse to Ivy's betrayal of the Birds of Prey and I'm glad to find that it actually brings some interesting points to the character.
Gail Simone focus both equally in Batgirl and Poison Ivy to tell this story and she gets the character of Pamela pretty good by revisiting some aspects of her past and how they have made her the being she currently is, it's good to see that she continues to be the kind of complex villain that most people expect. Barbara receives also a pretty decent portrayal that goes accord her current characterization in the series.
However, the true highlight of this issue for me was seeing Simone writing the Birds of Prey once again although short, she simply gets the team dynamics and how them should act. It makes me wonder why DC just doesn't give her the reigns of the title again.
Robert Gill and Javier Garron share art duties in this issue and their styles work pretty good with each other's, it looks pretty beautiful at some points even.
Pretty good exploration of both characters overall and seriously, we need Gail Simone writing Birds of Prey again.
