Some thoughts about Green Lantern #30

The Green Lantern Corps have lost a lot of its members recently, how will Hal Jordan react to this?

The ceremony in Mogo for their fallen comrades has began and Hal is decided to not let any other member from the Corps die. To accomplish this he will have to face one of the captains from the Khund in a death match to gain an advantage in the war but will he able to survive this battle.

I must say that I'm personally loving the direction where this title is going, Robert Venditti knows how to make each issue stand by itself and also make it work as part of the overarching story.

The character progress is excellent, Hal has been slowly but consistently improving his flaws as a leader due to the recent events and this has been one of his shiniest moments. He's not only decided to play with the Khund at their own game but he's also able to connect with his adversary in a personal way which makes the outcome of the battle much more powerful.

This is also represents one of the themes that Venditti has been using in his run, that every member from the Corps has a different set of abilities besides the use of their rings and Hal exemplifies that perfectly. Plus, it had a lot of content which makes for a really satisfying read.

Martin Coccolo replaces ongoing artist Billy Tan for this issue and his pencils work really well here. They're able to tell the story in a quite good manner and their characters look pretty appealing overall.

Really good issue, I hope that the upcoming Uprising crossover is able to continue this consistency.
