The world has survived one of the greatest threat that could have attacked it, but that doesn't mean that they're completely safe now.
The Justice League of America was disbanded after the attack of the Crime Syndicate and most of their members are separated now. However, that doesn't mean that they won't respond whenever someone asks for help since a mysterious man called Adam Strange is asking them to assist him in the search of his lover.
Oh yeah, I have been anticipating this series for a while. It's no secret that Jeff Lemire is currently one of my favorite writers at DC and now he's handling a series featuring some of my favorite characters from the DCU, how does his first issue fares?
Unsurprisingly, is great. Lemire concentrates in just a few members but it's pretty clear from the get go that he's experimenting with different tone for this series, why do I say this? Because this issue was pure fun.
The author has gained a popularity for writing in very dark and serious titles in the past like Animal Man and Green Arrow but here, he creates a setting where the character interaction really shines in one of the best ways that you could imagine. They make jokes, they tease one another and they emphasize the image that people have about them, I frankly loved the interaction between Green Arrow and Animal Man, it was hilarious.
Mike McKone is handling art duties here and his work is beautiful. His characters are both gorgeous and expressive, he has a really clean style that attracts a lot of attention to detail and the action is solidly portrayed.
I'm incredibly satisfied with this first issue and I'm definitely on board for this series.
