Tony Stark will need to deal with old enemies.
After being lost for a while, Tony is ready to put his life in place by starting a new relationship with someone with similar interests. However, his life as Iron Man will quickly become more important once that a powerful man reappears.
The beginning of a new series handled by one of the biggest writers from Marvel's roster. After his time writing the X-Men, Brian Bendis has decided to take the reigns of a character he's pretty familiar with since his Avengers era. So does this issue succeed?
Well, I would say it does for the most part.
If you're familiar with Bendis' work you know what you can expect from this book, pretty heavy in terms of dialogue and interaction between characters and it's actually a good guess. Some of the early pages are a bit too overwritten since Tony's inner narration is not interesting enough to deserve so much attention and screen time, is probably the weakest part of the issue.
The rest however, works nicely. The dynamic between Tony and his new love interest is pretty enjoyable and the dialogue has enough personality to be invested in it. The plot progresses solidly with Bendis reminiscing some of the events from Superior Iron Man as well as creating an interesting conflict for following issues.
The art provided by David Marquez is stunning with beautiful characters, strong action scenes and perfect storytelling.
So yeah, I liked this so far aside from some complaints. Hope it gets a bit better in the future though.
