Some thoughts about DC All In Special #1

Is a brand new era for the DC Universe in more ways than expected.

The Justice League is receiving new members and this is finally time for Booster Gold to shine once again but the sudden appearance of Darkseid might put Michael in a predicament from which he might not be able to escape.

Yep, we have been here before right?

I haven't been covering many books lately because I don't have as much time as before but also because the current line of DC Comics bores me for the most part and it might have something to do with the constant changes of directions and reboots that promise a much more interesting future for DC but ultimately fails at creating something truly engaging. It happened with Infinite Frontier, Dawn of DC and now we're doing it all over again with the DC All In and Absolute DC Comics.

To be fair though, the story here is not bad per se. Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder offer a decent jump on point for new readers while offering insight about some of the classic DC continuity and speaking as a Booster Gold fan, I'm glad he's one of the main characters in this brand new direction after the years of bullcrap that happened once that Tom King started handling the character and the writers manage to remember the audience why Booster is such a likable hero in a very appropriate manner (and I'm sure we have to give credit to Williamson due to his love of history).

Then again, I feel like this issue tries to oversell how important this new direction is (and I'm sure Snyder has something to do with this considering how he handles his events) by Booster mentioning how big this moment is and Darkseid of all beings appearing more powerful than ever out of pretty much nowhere and with very little reason initially (which might be a bit strange for people who are just beginning with this line).

Another thing I didn't particularly like is that the explanation behind Darkseid's actions are explained in a second feature by the same writers and the problem is that this makes the read feel disjointed and could have worked better as a prologue instead but I guess the authors wanted to give the final pages to the creation of the Absolute universe.

Daniel Sampere and Dan Mora handle the main section and they do a wonderful job in terms of artstyle, storytelling and overall beauty. The second feature is drawn by Wes Craig and is pretty interesting since he appropriately is inspired by Jack Kirby for the Darkseid story and is solid work in that regard.

Decent opening but not sure if I should be too excited about the future.
