Recommendations from the week October 14th 2015

In the following order:
  1. Starfire #5: The most charming read of the week.
  2. Harley Quinn #21: Funniest read of the week.
  3. Ms. Marvel #19: Perfect ending for this book's Season 1.
  4. Justice League United #14: Yet another good chapter.
  5. Bat-Mite #5: Simply fun.
  6. Captain America: Sam Wilson #1: More political than ever but nicely told.
  7. Batman/Superman #25: Nice story about Superman and the Batfamily.
  8. Batman #45: Solid chapter.
  9. Justice League of America #4: Better than previous issues but not exactly great.
  10. Catwoman #45: Some resolution but it could have been better.
  11. Red Hood/Arsenal #5: Fun enough but not excellent.
No recommendations for New Avengers because I didn't feel it was distinctive enough, nor Constantine: The Hellblazer because it was repetitive, nor Superman: Lois and Clark because it was disappointing, nor Earth 2: Society because it was horrendous.

Pretty good week still.

  1. Batman/Superman. I just think Pak as good as he is on Action...has not gotten what Batman/Superman should be about. And that before Gordon became Batman. Just a comic that should have its own feel and it does not.

JLA. Where the hell is Wonder Woman? Come on Hitch. The next issue better have a ton of her.

Lois and Clark. What a dull comic. Sorry not even nostalgia can save this. Plus I am not keen that they dragged this couple in like overnight and given them a 10 yr history. It does the rebooted Superman a disservice. Does not allow him to settle on his own earth while trying to make comparisons between the two as if to suggest this older Superman is better or something which is not the way to do things if DC wants to world build their new 52 verse. It screws with the timeline while undermining the Justice League themselves. Having them briefly here would have been okay then send them off to their own earth but this as far as I see just messes up DCU canon that already seems to have nothing linear to it. This Superman hiding yet wearing the S on his chest and making excuses for it to me does not serve him well.

    1. I didn't really like Lois and Clark but I think there's potential for this couple in the new DCU.
