The world is in peril and is all Black Alice's fault.
Expert in the supernatural side of the world are discussing the current events that are affecting everyone and the only solution they can come up with is to destroy their cause.
I have to say that I wasn't expecting this kind of story in this series.
Gail Simone decides to take the title into a different direction by focusing this time on the magic side of the DCU by presenting different characters from it. We see the likes of Felix Faust, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Deadman among others and they're represented in a pretty accurate way and makes them quite interesting at the same time.
The rest of the cast also receive a nice time in the spotlight and the writer continues her usual work by trying to portray them as dysfunctional family that still care for each other. The plot progresses nicely with the conflict taking place almost immediately and showing a compelling dynamic between the cast.
Dale Eaglesham and Tom Derenick share art duties and they're able to maintain a consistent style over the course of the issue. While Derenick does a solid job, Eaglesham delivers the best page from this issue thanks to the detailed characters and evironments.
Fun issue, let's see how the story continues in the next one.
