Some thoughts about Constantine: The Hellblazer #5

The person who Constantine loved has came back to kill him.

John has committed a lot of mistakes in his life and they're going to continue to remind him once that his old girlfriend returns as a monster to kill him.

Welp, the series continues the same formula all right.

Ming Doyle and James Tynion IV deliver the conclusion of their initial storyarc with a chapter where they still portray John as a man whose' dark past is back to haunt him and again, this is Constantine 101 and sadly doesn't offer much aside from that.

Worst of all is that the self-deprecating attitude the protagonist has is getting old and annoying at this point with John repeating continually how everything is his fault and letting others treat him like trash with little to no rebuttal.

There are some interesting points like John using his brain once again at the end but is quickly derailed once that he starts going emo. Watching him dance as part of a ritual was fun though.

Scott Kowalchuk and Riley Rossmo's artwork on the other hand, is pretty distinctive and appealing with an unique style that makes the monsters even more horrific.

Pretty average overall, don't know if I will continue with this.
