Some thoughts about The Fall and Rise of Captain Atom #3

Is the world ready for a new Captain Atom?

Nate has returned to the present and is ready to find his wife. Unfortunately, Dr. Megala and General Eiling have other plans for him.

This story continues and while this chapter wasn't as strong as the last one, it was still a decent read.

Cary Bates and Greg Weisman deliver a new installment where they focus mostly on Nate's character and how he adapts to being back to the present. The character work is pretty solid due that the writers exploit the classic theme of tragedy the protagonist always faces even when it seems like everything is going the way he wants to. The rest of the cast is also well-integrated in such development due that both Megala and Eiling play nicely with the story.

The theme of rebirth is also properly implemented here since the writers use an actual rebirth direction due that they're planning to create a new version of Captain Atom that distance itself from the New 52 version and such parallels are well-depicted.

Oh, and the twist at the end is interesting.

Will Conrad handles the artwork and is pretty solid with expressive characters and a clear storytelling skill.

This gets its job done at offering a content-packed chapter but I hope the next one offers more.
