Some thoughts about Green Arrow #49

Green Arrow will finally realize what it means to be privileged.

Oliver has completely succumbed to his infection and has completely become a werewolf and somehow that will make him realize how privil...

Yeah, yeah, you know how this rolls. Stupid stuff happens.

Ben Percy continues his story and boy, does he continue it, by creating a chapter where he makes Oliver become a complete monster due to the virus he got in the Green Arrow Annual. I'm going to say this, despite of how ridiculous this story has been, the concept of Ollie becoming a monster is not bad per se since it can explore some interesting and classic aspects of the character like his emotional nature and how he acts before thinking.

The stupid stuff comes later when Percy continues the whole "privileged" theme where for some reason all of this makes Ollie realize that he has been privileged all his life and he wants to fight for others and it simply comes out of FUCKING NOWHERE! This is somehow related to become a werewolf and constellations because that's completely logical.

Another complaint is that, while I liked the dynamic between Ollie and Emiko for the most part here, I don't understand why she's so angry about "privileged" people now considered that she used to be one of those "privileged" ones since she was rich and everything. Hell, she was even worse than that, she liked to watch her twisted father torture others, she should be the last person to talk, that just makes her a frikking hypocrite.

About the art, Szymon Kudranski handles the pencils and is really, really good looking. The way how the action is depicted is wonderful and the characters are really expressive while the monsters are impressive.

Silly, silly Percy. Eh, let's see how this story concludes at least.
