Whatever happened to Superman after the Doomsday incident?
Brainiac has been recreated as a being who wants to save different cities across the Multiverse and he seems to have a connection to Superman in all of them. Now after creating a world in his image, the planet itself has gained conciousness and is decided to follow the path of its creator.
The new DC event that is going to last for the next 2 months is finally here, so does it delivers?
Well, I would say so far, so good.
Jeff King and Dan Jurgens bring a story that is mostly focused on that missed time just after the Doomed crossover and before his return to Earth. The writers explain a lot of details about this world where the cities of Convergence are going to reside and they do a pretty competent job at maintaining the readers' attention about the different alternate dimensions and incarnations of Brainiac.
Not only that but the characterization of Superman is really well-done and the way how the writers deal with his current situation is quite on-point and compelling.
It's necessary to mention that this it's obviously a prelude to the events that are about to happen but it still offers a nice story.
Ethan Van Sciver is in charge of the art and his work is pretty good with some really clean and detailed characters and scenarios, not to mention that strong storytelling skills.
Solid beginning. Hope that the following chapters are even better.
