Some thoughts about Convergence: Superboy #1

The Metropolis kid is back.

Superboy has lost his powers along with several other heroes but now that he's forced to fight against beings from other dimensions he will have to step-up into his role. Can a boy with all the power of Superman but without his sense of responsibility win?

This was certainly enjoyable.

Fabian Nicieza delivers a story focusing on the early 90's version of Superboy with the fade cut, earring, jacket and everything else. It's a nice throwback to that era where Kon-El was a quite egocentric kid that only wanted the attention for being a version of Superman and the characterization definitely reflects that.

The overall tone of the story is pretty fun with the writer dealing with what a teenager like Kon would be feeling in this situation and how it constrasts with the kind of enemies he's facing.

Karl Moline is in charge of the pencils and his work is quite solid thanks to his expressive character and clean style.

Good issue. Excited to see how this fight resolves.
