Some thoughts about Convergence: The Atom #1

The Atom is losing his mind, or is he?

Ray Palmer has spent so long inside of the dome that he's starting to hear voices and every person who encounters him notices that. However, he knows he needs to find Slade Wilson to get justice for Ryan Choy's death and he will get it no matter what.

Mixed thoughts about this one.

The premise itself is a quite interesting one. Ray is apparently in a weak mental state and believes to be hearing other people inside of his head and this allows for some good moments of characterization and interaction. The use of his abilities is also compelling and allows for some enjoyable moments over the course of the issue.

However, Tom Peyer's writing can be a bit blunt at times. He repeats the word "Justice" in a way that reminds me of Cry for Justice (and nothing good can come from that), also the narration can be kinda heavyhanded at points, thankfully is nothing that really ruins the read.

Also, great last page reveal.

Stece Yeowell is in charge of the pencils and his work is really, really old school. At times it feels a bit unrefined and dated but it's serviceable I suppose.

I would think is an okay issue despite of its problems but let's see how it goes.
