Superman trusted Ulyssess and that might have been his worst mistake.
Ulyssess has decided that the people from earth are not worth saving and instead he's willing to save his adoptive planet by making some sacrifices. Now Clark will have to convince him of the contrary but even if he manages to do it, it could end-up being for the worse.
The story has certainly taken an interesting twist.
No spoilers here but people must know at this point that Ulyssess is not exactly the kind and noble man he pretended to be. Geoff Johns continues to develope the concept of this Superman analogue by exploring how growing in another environment makes him different, is something that has been done in the past already but is a pretty interesting direction for the antagonist.
The parallels are well-depicted and while this conflict might have been something that people saw coming it was good to know that Ulyssess is not a downright evil guy.
John Romita Jr. returns on pencils and his work is pretty expressive with good range of emotions and detail, the storytelling techniques are solid too.
Nice issue I would say, still interested where this is going.
