Pretenders are trying to use Batgirl's image for their personal gain.
A new Batgirl is in town and is using Barbara's disguise to try to obtain fame. Meanwhile, a pretentious artist is trying to do the same by exploiting what the heroine represents. What is the connection between these two cases?
The new Batgirl run continues with what it seems one of its strongest installments yet.
The creative team of Cameron Stewart and Brenden Fletcher bring a story where they play with the idea of the protagonist as an icon and how others try to implement that kind of interpretation for their own objectives.
One of my favorite aspects from this issue is the investigation, the writers really know how to use Babs' memory in the investigation and making her realize where she needs to go next. The characters are also pretty interesting and likable too, I must say that I'm really enjoying Black Canary here despite that is a completely new personality.
There's even an overaching plot where all these people who have been attacking Batgirl have something common and I really like how this is working out so far.
This issue obviously wouldn't be the same without Babs Tarr's gorgeous artwork. Her style has a lot of personality and all the characters look beautiful, especially Barbara and Dinah.
Yet another excellent issue, definitely getting your money worth from this.
