Some thoughts about Transformers: Titans Return #1

An evil being has returned.

Sentinel Prime has came back to life and no one understands how but the only thing they know is they have to stop him before he destroys everyone.

This one-shot is obviously setting the story up for the current Titans Return toyline and as a comic it works nicely fortunately.

Written as a collaboration between James Roberts, John Barber and Mairghread Scott, the plot takes place with every character that each writer works on including the members from the cast of the main Transformers book, More than Meets the Eye and Till All are One. This allows for a consistent characterization during the whole issue, all the different voices remain accurate and their interactions with one another are pretty solid.

The inclusion of Sentinel Prime as an antagonist makes sense considering his presence in the new toys but he also works due to the kind of presence he evokes and it was good to see how the writers explored a bit of his background before his appearance.

Livio Ramondelli handles the artwork and is solid with some interesting looking panels here and there and a distinctive style.

Enjoying this, hopefully the proper event will continue this way in the following issues.
