Whatever happened to the Green Lantern Corps?
Hal Jordan is starting to lose himself in the power of Krona's Gauntlet and the only way he can save his humanity is to return to his roots.
This is the beginning of yet another new direction for the franchise which seems to be in the right road.
Written once again by Robert Venditti, the story is focused on the ramifications of the previous storyline with Hal being consumed by Krona's Gauntlet and trying to remember who he actually is. This is reflected in the writing in fact since the author utilizes this plot-point to start reminiscing the most recent events just like other Rebirth books and so, it doesn't feel as unnatural.
The characterization works nicely with Hal acting the way he should and creating a good sense of hope for the future. There are a few sub-plots created here as well with the Sinestro Corps being reintegrated as an adversary and most likely their role will become bigger.
Ethan Van Sciver is in charge of the artwork and is pretty good looking, he certainly gives the story a great sense of scope with expressive characters and strong moments.
Solid jumping-on point overall, hope the next one reveals more about the main plot.
