What's the story behind Dick Dastardly?
The racers are trying to fight against a horde of creatures to survive and to do so, they will need to connect to their own vehicles.
Yeaaaaah, I'm still not sure about this one.
For one, the story that Ken Pontac is creating is not bad, not bad per se at least. He's developing more of the world around these racers, about how the planet became this way after the Apocalypse that destroyed everything, there are a few hints here and there about what caused it and it seems like he wants to explore chapter by chapter.
The writer also wants to give some of the characters some depth including Dick Dastardly whose past is revealed and offers more about his background. Nothing wrong about these.
The problem is that this is still a quite EXTREME! reinvention of the original that at times is trying to hard to be grim and gritty. Is not even in the same vein of Scooby Apocalypse since that book doesn't take itself too seriously, at points I feel like this book simply refuses to acknowledge how absurd this world is.
Leonardo Manco's artwork doesn't make things better since his style can still be pretty messy, the storytelling can be pretty clunky due to the dark tone.
Overall, this can be interesting at points but it still rubs me the wrong way.
