Some thoughts about Midnighter #1

The most dangerous man on Earth is on a mission now.

The Midnighter has enhanced abilities of every kind and he's decided to use them to make every person who is culprit of a crime pay. However, once that his past starts to be revealed, he will have no choice but work with people he doesn't want to.

This issue marks yet another new volume and this time focusing on one of the most popular characters from the old Authority series created by Warren Ellis this time handled by Steve Orlando, how does it fares?

Excellently I would say.

Steve Orlando manages to exemplify perfectly what makes the protagonist so great in just the early pages by focusing on his skills and how they're based on his own brain that allows him to win any kind of fight. The result is a wonderfully presented opening scene where you get immediately invested into the character.

It's also interesting to see how Midnighter relates to other people like his current boyfriend, his ex, Apollo, and what he considers pretty much his mother, the Gardener. The character is well explored in terms of portrayal so far.

The mystery also seems interesting so far and hopefully will continue to develope in the future.

It's necessary to say that this is probably the best work that ACO has ever released yet. His layouts, style and storytelling are completely on-point and manage to capture the tone and direction of the book perfectly, he's a pretty important aspect of this issue's success.

Outstanding opening chapter, you people need to get this.
