Some thoughts about Doomed #1

Can a common guy escape from being completely doomed?

Reiser just received a simple yet intriguing role in S.T.A.R. Labs which was one of his biggest dreams. However, that dream is about to turn into a nightmare once that one of the experiments he was part of goes wrong.

Doomed if you do it, doomed if you don't.

Okay, I will stop with the puns now I promise.

Scott Lobdell is certainly a divisive writer. His ideas and energy are something that I can actually appreciate but his execution is not really the best and now he has been given the responsibility of launching a whole new property. How does it fares?

Well, I would say that is fun at the very least.

The writer focuses on the main character Reiser who automatically shows the personality of a young scientist who is pretty excited for the work he has to do but at the same time, still has to worry about typical things like girls. This is one of the most important things that a writer has to do when introducing a protagonist, making him/her likable and relatable and I think this issue succeeds in that regard.

There are even some interesting aspects of worldbuilding inside of S.T.A.R. Labs which is something I always wished an author would explore. From the different sections that the place has to the experiments they produce, is certainly a compelling environment.

Javier Fernandez brings the artwork and his style is pretty appropriate for this book, it has a lot of energy and manages to get pretty creative at points.

Solid beginning, definitely interested in seeing more.
