Some thoughts about Superman #41

What happened to Superman before the truth?

Clark and Jimmy were on a mission just when everything suddenly started to change, someone already figured out Clark's secret identity and was ready to reveal it to the world if he doesn't do what is asking for.

This issue not only offers a new chapter from the Truth crossover but also represents the beginning of the new run written by Gene Luen Yang, how does it fares?

I would say pretty solidly.

The writer focuses on what happened immediately before this whole story started and the things that created such situation. Not only that but the author also utilizes some of the developments created by Geoff Johns during his run like the friendship between Clark and Jimmy and the new powers that Superman has that allows for a pretty nice transition between both runs.

The execution is overall pretty good with some competent little character moments that emphasize the kind of person who Clark is as well as representing the rest of the cast nicely.

John Romita Jr. returns to artwork and his storytelling skills are pretty on point managing to follow every scene from the script perfectly.

Promising start definitely, would continue checking this out.
