Some thoughts about Red Hood/Arsenal #1

The Outlaws are back despite that they're currently missing a member.

Roy is still feeling depressed due to being separated from Jason and Kory. However, once that he embarks in a new mission, he will be surprised to find that one of his old friends is closer than he could imagine.

This is pretty much the relaunch of the old title Red Hood and the Outlaws written by the same creator Scott Lobdell. Despite of the early criticisms of the book, I have to say that it was a pretty fun ride for the most part, so how does this issue fares in comparison.

Well, let's talk about.

As usual, one of the strongest points from the old book was the dynamic between the characters and Lobdell still manages to get a good interaction between Jason and Roy by emphasizing that both care for each other despite that they don't show it. The character work is solid.

The problem is that Lobdell's narration can get a bit heavyhanded with overexposition here and there, and quite frankly they affect the flow of the issue. Plus, as far as first issue go, I think I enjoyed the first one from the previous series better, there was more excitement.

Another problem is the art. Denis Meori's work is not terrible but is not that good looking either, the story is told adequately but not in a particularly great way. At best it gets the job done.

So overall, I'm not feeling this so far but is not awful. Average I would say.

    1. Oh, it's cool if you enjoyed.

I would recommend you to check the first volume of Red Hood and the Outlaws, it's quite entertaining and has great art by Keneth Rocafort. If you like what you see then you might want to check the rest.
