A member of the Justice League is dead and the rest are not faring so well.
Green Lantern has been taken as hostage by Locus, the demented teenage girl with the ability to alter reality, while Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are currently in Takron-Galtos, a prison planet that may actually have a connection with them. Are the legends about the Justice League just myths?
This is just an all-around wonderful issue, one may think that after telling so many Justice League stories both Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis wouldn't have any ideas left for the franchise but this series proves that theory wrong.
The premise and ideas about the kind of future where this characters live are being slowly explained while still not giving all the bits. The concepts are pretty good so far and it gives you a sense of desperation for the time.
However, I must say that my favorite aspect of this chapter was the interaction between the characters, especifically between the DC Trinity. My god are these hilarious, Superman is just an egocentric jerk, Wonder Woman wants to kills everything on her path and Batman tries to be the straight man among all the madness, the conversations are pretty natural but hysterical. I really enjoyed these segments.
Howard Porter's artwork here is simply stunning. He's able to create a lot of detail in each page and when you encounter a double-page spread is just magnificent, there's a lot of complexity and profoundness in them.
Best issue of the week? In terms of content and fun is the best I have read so far.
