From the future, Sue Storm is reminiscing some of the best moments of her family before their fall.
The Fantastic Four have always been in charge of protecting the people from some of the strangest menaces that they have ever seen but could a recent attack by one of their classic enemies mean something even more dangerous this time?
First of all, I must say that I have lost count of how many times this title has been relaunched.
There are only a few incarnations of Marvel's First Family that I have liked, Byrne's, Waid's and Hickman's so how does James Robinson's fares in comparison to them?
Well, tbis was a decent issue but hardly impressive. Robinson's grasp on the characters is solid enough, Reed is the usual absent-minded but caring scientist, Sue continues to be the all-loving mother, Johnny is egocentric and Ben likes to punch things and find love. There's nothing really wrong with the characterization but nothing really new or mindblowing either, I wish that Robinson would have tried to reveal some unique aspects of these characters.
The story is also not really unique, it consist on Sue remembering the best times before an important event obviously happen that destroy their family which again is not bad but not particularly surprising.
Leonard Kirk handles the art and while is serviceable, I didn't find anything particularly great about it (I think we're seeing a trend here).
I would say that it's a decent first issue but I wouldn't really recommend it for people who want something new about this series.
