The final battle against Brother Blood is going to be much more dangerous than anyone could have imagined and it will take the combined forces of Buddy and Maxine if they want to defeat him. However, even if they beat him do they truly win?
Animal Girl!
This is the penultimate chapter of Jeff Lemire's Animal Man saga and it already feels like everything is coming together for a resolution. The fight against Brother Blood ended up being pretty satisfactory as well as the interaction between all the members of the Baker family. Lemire also creates pretty charming moments like the aforementioned Animal Girl scene and one where Buddy says "Sorry I'm late baby, I had to go to space", they were just really great segments.
I suppose that the next issue will focus on the Bakers accepting the fate of Cliff and I hope that Lemire is planning something special for that.
Rafael Albuquerque continues his perfectly suited artwork for this title, it's just so dark, creepy and horribly beautiful, one of the best pencillers who has worked on this book.
Pretty good conclusion for this arc, high hopes for the finale.
