Some thoughts about Green Lantern #50

Hal Jordan will have to face his ultimate challenge: Himself.

Parallax has come from another universe where he never got over the destruction of Coast City and now wants to replace Hal as its protector. Worst of all, this might just be the beginning of an even bigger conflict.

The battle that has been teased for a while is finally here and it works in a satisfying way.

Robert Venditti delivers issue 50 of this series by dedicating it to the big conflict between Hal and Parallax and how similar and different they are from each other. What I liked the most from this is once again the character work, the dynamic between Hal and his family is still pretty enjoyable and realistic while his interaction with Parallax makes a lot of sense considering that Hal actually had to face the same tragedy at one point.

The plannification is also pretty good due that this contrasts nicely with the theme about how Hal can't protect everyone around him and now he has to fight against someone who is completely overwhelmed by such fear. The way how Hal manages to get out of this is pretty natural based on the things he has already endured.

Billy Tan and Vicente Cifuentes handle the pencils and their collaboration is really good with interesting contructs from the Lanterns and strong action scenes.

Solid chapter, it also makes me excited for what will happen next.
