War has just arrived to Gotham.
The Robins have been trying to save the city now that it doesn't have a proper Batman. However, they're also causing chaos at the same time and this could be the perfect time for an old group of enemies to attack.
"I'm Robin! We are Robin! Everyone is Robin!"
"That doesn't sound unnatural at all right guys?!"
"... guys?"
Yeah, once that you have read a story written by Tom King you know what to expect. Some interesting themes here and there that are unfortunately forced on you by an abundant amount of repetition to try to penetrate your brain.
That being said, some of the ideas are indeed compelling like how the whole nature of the Robin initiative can be pretty chaotic considering that many of the members are untrained and could cause more danger than what they actually prevent. The Court of Owls' plans are also intriguing and make me wonder where they story is going.
Then again, the characterization can be a bit over the place with some members of the cast sounding a bit off. Gordon especially who, for some reason, keeps being portrayed outside of his own book as a mindless Robocop who only follows the law.
Khary Randolph, Alan Mauricet and Jorge Corona share art duties but sadly the look can be a bit inconsistent during the story with some scenes looking a bit awkward.
Not a bad opening but one that is seriously predictable in its execution.
