The Justice League is facing one of its worst moments.
Superman has been corrupted and is threatening to kill everyone. Meanwhile, the team believes that the Crime Syndicate knows the way to defeat the Anti-Monitor and if they all want to survive they will need to work together.
Colour me impressed, is still entertaining.
Geoff Johns delivers a new chapter of the biggest DC event of the year by focusing on both characterization and progressing the plot. Several things happen during the course of the issue including the battle against the corrupted Superman, the Justice League irrupting into A.R.G.U.S. to free the Crime Syndicate, New Gods arriving, etc. There's so much development of the story that you can truly get your money worth from it.
Not only that but the characterization also manages to be nicely explored and the writer focuses on each member of the cast in a way that feels natural considering what has been occurring since they all were introduced.
Jason Fabok returns to art duties and his work is certainly perfect for the event. There's a great sense of scale for all the different battles and even the little moments seem much more important thanks to him.
Excellent issue, hope that the following one keeps bringing the goods.
