The mysteries about Zoom are finally revealed.
What are the reasons behind Eobard Thawne's constant attacks against Barry Allen and his family?
Pretty stupid ones.
Really, I wasn't expecting a lot of things from this issue despite that it was supposed to be the "Big reveal" about Zoom's origin but this is still quite underwhelming.
It turns out that the reason why Thawne killed Barry's mother is because the legacy of The Flash created a perfect society in which Thawne would never be appreciated despite that he had the same powers and also because his father killed his mother and he apparently wanted to replicate that with the Allen family.
Okay, I understand that "the villain blames the hero for things that are out of his/her control" is an archetype but is already a pretty tiring one and this especifically is just pushing it. Thawne is completely insane and not in the typical mad archenemy stuff, his motivations make little sense and makes you care for him very little as well (the fact that he's pretty pathetic doesn't help).
Maybe if more time was actually spend in exploring his origins and trying to give him a bit more character beyond all the dementia there could be something to appreciate here but as it is, this feels pretty rushed and it simply ends-up as a character being ruined.
Brett Booth handles the artwork and is pretty much what you expect. Nice action scenes but other than that, is kinda awkward.
Yeah, this continues to disappoint. Why can't we have a change already?
