Some thoughts about Green Lantern #48

Green Lantern will have to face one of the most dangerous threats that he has ever seen.

Sonar is causing destruction and death everywhere and he won't stop until his demands are satisfied. Worse of all is that Hal's nephew is one of the victims and that will force him to take some desperate measures.

What can I say? I just loved this.

Robert Venditti brings an unusual story with this chapter, one that is focused on terrorist attacks and how people from both sides react to it. The reimagination of Sonar is quite compelling and manages to give the character a stronger motivation than in his past incarnations while the themes concerning his organization seem terrifyingly real.

Not only that but the character work is quite good, there are little scenes about how Hal's family deals with this tragedy and all of them work satisfactorily, especially when Hal has to fight against people who are not afraid of death.

Plus, the presence of Parallax continues to grow.

Billy Tan and Martin Coccolo handle the artwork and they fortunately maintain a consistent look over the course of the issue with good looking action scenes and characters.

Simply put, one of the most interesting installments recently. Nice job.
