Batman is about to meet some of the strangest creatures he has ever encounter.
Is the anniversary of the death of Bruce's parents and he believes that the best thing to do is to spend it fighting against crime in Gotham. However, things are going to get complicated one that a dangerous group of ninjas start invading the streets.
Well, this is the sort of crossover you wouldn't expect.
I have mentioned in the past that I'm a huge fan of the T.M.N.T. (especifically when I covered Michael Bay's film, boy, that was a bad time) and now DC's most popular character is about to team-up with them and makes sense considering the kind of characters they are. So, how does it fares?
Well, is not particularly impressive even for the kind of premise they're going for.
James Tynion IV handles the project and quite frankly, he leaves a lot to be desired here. Batman is portrayed as serious and angsty just like many other typical Batman characterizations so you won't see any surprises here. Nor for the T.M.N.T. due that they don't present anything new or engaging in their depiction, if you know these guys, you know what to expect.
And that's the biggest problem, I'm not expecting a masterpiece from this concept but at least I expect it to be fun. Sadly, the action is not particularly exciting and the humourous scenes are not that funny, it needed more of everything and let's not even talk about the story, is pretty standard stuff about the Foot Clan attacking Gotham while Batman meets the rest of the team just at the end. Pretty poor progress.
Freddie Williams II handles the art and he's actually the best part about this story, his cartoony and expressive style is perfect for depicting the turtles.
Aside from some jokes like Tynion making fun of the initial alien concept that Michael Bay was going for his film (which is too little too late), this is a pretty by the numbers team-up and doesn't make me want to look for more.
