Wonder Woman will have to face one of her greatest battles for the sake of her people.
The final confrontation between Diana and Donna Troy is about to begin and the winner will take the role of Queen of the Amazons but no matter the result, the Derinoe is decided to make Diana pay.
Well, I suppose this works as the conclusion of the first arc from this story so, does it delivers?
I have pretty mixed thoughts about this.
For one, the battle between Diana and Donna is well-depicted aside from some cluncky samples of dialogue, Meredith Finch manages to deliver good characterization, dynamic and resolution for such fight. Plus, there's even a bit of hope at the end for Donna.
The problem is that I feel like the conclusion for this particular segment of the story came too abruptly and it doesn't really feel like a proper ending for an arc. A bit week in terms of presentation.
David Finch actually delivers a solid job in art duties aside from some wonky faces, the action and storytelling are pretty clear.
There's also a second segment focusing on the old woman Derinoe and her motivations for wanting to kill Diana. This is also written by the same author and in fact I would say that is a stronger offering due that it concentrates on the relationship between Hyppolita and Derinoe, this is pretty well-depicted for the most part and makes the villain's actions more understandable.
The thing is that I wish this story would have been first in the issue to at least having a better sense of the character before well, what happens in the first story of this Annual.
Goran Sudzuka is in charge of the art here and his work is wonderful as ever with a cartoony and expressive style. Definitely the best looking pencils from this installment.
Overall, I would say is solid, it doesn't make me fall in love with the story as a whole but it was enjoyable.
