Bat-Mite is back and he's decided to make the heroes much better.
Batman didn't anticipate to encounter the imp from the 5th Dimension once again and he's not planning to spend one more second with him. Which means bad news for Bat-Mite who is about to encounter one of his hero's craziest enemies.
Yet another beginning for the DC line of books and fortunately this one of the funniest ones. Bat-Mite has always been an interesting character to explore due to the contrast he has with the superhero he admires the most so, does Dan Jurgens exploits the premise correctly?
Well, I would say that for the most part he does.
The story is pretty self-aware by referencing multiple aspects of the DCU as well as Batman's secret identity and motivations. It's a lighthearted story through and through and is pretty successful in that regard due that it can be enjoyed by both kids and adults.
About the humour, this is definitely one of the most enjoyable reads from this week in that regard. Bat-Mite constantly makes jokes and references that are pretty funny. Well, at least most of them are, some of kind of dated like the already old line: "Hello nurse!". Still, it managed to get quite a few laughs from me.
Corin Howell's artwork is perfect for this title, he has a pretty cartoony style that really fits the protagonist but it's not overly deformed nor bizarre. It pretty much looks like a DC animated show in comic form.
In summary, this was quite entertaining and hopefully many people will be able enjoy it.
