Some thoughts about Earth 2: World's End #1

The end of the world is upon us.

The Wonders from the world are starting to reminisce everything that happened that lead them to this point and now that they have found each other, they must be ready to face the upcoming forces of Apokolips.

This is the oversized beginning from this new weekly series focusing on the destruction of Earth 2. Does it offers any hope?

Eh, it's a pretty uneven starting point overall.

The writers who are handling this are Daniel H. Wilson (who serves as the showrunner), Marguerite Bennett and Mike Johnson, all of them present the same style that was introduced by Tom Taylor since the beginning of his run which is not exactly one of my favorites.

The first part of the issue functions as a recap from all the events that happened over the course of the series. It works for the most part despite of some newly forced aspects.

There are still some good moments though. The mystery of Sam's murder, Alan's boyfriend, is apparently going to be revealed anda ot of Earth 2 is being explored.

The problem is that the dialogue can be pretty awkward, in many scenes the characters start talking with themselves (Sure, they make fun of that but it happens so often that it gets annoying). Not to mention that some characters are a bit off, especially Terry Sloan who used to be a pretty cold and serious person and suddenly became quite egocentric and volatile.

The art is brought by Ardian Syaf, Jorge Jimenez, Eddy Barrows and Paulo Siqueira with Scott McDaniel handling the breakdowns. They all are able to keep a consistent tone for the book but is kinda unimpressive.

In summary, I'm not really impressive with this first entry. Let's see where it goes.
