Some thoughts about Worlds' Finest #27

Behold the secret origin of both Superman and Batman from Earth 2.

Jor-El might have gotten a chance to save the life of his son by sending him to another planet, but not the one you could imagine. Meanwhile Thomas Wayne's past keeps haunting him despite of his change of heart.

This issue is the beginning of a new arc by Paul Levitz this time focusing on the World's Finest from Earth 2, Superman and Batman.

Am I wrong to say that I actually enjoyed this issue?

Seriously, Levitz actually utilizes this new chapter to expand into the history of both characters with pretty solid results. Superman's origin show more about Krypton as well as his connection with Apokolips and how this would relate to the future events.

The Batman's sections expand into the story created in the last annual by integrating a few other characters like Alan Scott and developing more of Thomas' backstory.

Jed Dougherty handles the art and his work is not bad but is certainly nothing special and at times it can look a bit unrefined.

Still, I was pleasently surprised by this issue honestly. This might actually turn out to be something good.
