Doctor Fate will need to learn more about his powers from someone with more experience.
Kent Nelson has just appeared and he's decided to teach his nephew Khalid how to use the Helmet of Fate properly and there's no better time than now since the city is in peril once again.
Well, Paul Levitz certainly appreciates the original characters all right.
A new installment arrives where the writer finally explores the connection between the original Doctor Fate, Kent Nelson and Khalid and he does it in a way that makes a lot of sense. The best part about this is the characterization since Levitz pays a lot of respect to Kent by portraying him in a pretty imposing way and making him look much more experienced which contrasts nicely with Khalid's naive personality.
The action scenes are also well-paced with each character showing their abilities in their own ways and promising more encounters for the future.
Ibrahim Moustafa is in charge of the pencils and his work is pretty appropriate for the book with a detailed style that shows the characters expressions perfectly and creates enjoyable supernatural scenes.
Pretty solid issue and the series better continue this way.
