Aquaman wants to bring the sea and the surface together but some people think he's not worthy of doing so.
Atlantis is trying to connect to the rest of the world but despite of Arthur's best intentions there will always someone who is against him, especially if that person is his biggest enemy.
The actual beginning of Dan Abnett's work on Aquaman Rebirth is here and it certainly delivers in all of its promises.
The writer brings a lot of previous plot-points he touched upon before the Rebirth issue, about how Arthur is trying to work alongside the surface world to make both of his people connect. The characterization is pretty solid with the highlight of the issue being the interactions between Arthur and Mera and showing how much they care and support each other. Even other side-characters manage to receive some moments in the spotlight to showcase their personalities.
Of course, the most shocking moments once that the villain that we were all waiting for appears. His characterization is also pretty accurate with what has already been established and the reason for his attacks also makes sense with such premise.
Brad Walker handles the artwork and is really good looking with really expressive characters that show a lot of emotion and big action scenes that fit the last pages nicely.
A pretty solid jumping on point overall. Everyone should try it.
