A powerful being is reborn.
Bruce is trying to teach Duke how to fight crime the proper way but there's not enough time for training since the menace of the Calendar Man keeps increasing with every second.
This is it people, the beginning of new era for Batman.
Tom King officially takes over the title co-writing the story along with Scott Snyder. I personally like this method since it allows for a more seamless transition between the different runs and manages to create a pretty logical next step.
About the story itself, it starts in a solid manner with the writers telling exactly what Batman is while connecting it to Bruce's roots as well as showing how strong as a character he is in terms of physical power and will. The mystery around the Calendar Man seems intriguing since the villain is being presented in a more supernatural way, one that looks to be pretty fitting considering his premise.
The plot is mostly a set-up to both King's Batman and Snyder's All-Star Batman so I assume that many of the plot-points will continue in such series.
Mikel Janin handles the artwork and is obviously beautiful with a great sense of storytelling which make each panel a joy to look out. I particularly liked how different he made Bruce from Dick Grayson considering how used he was to draw such character.
Overall, a solid first entry whose sub-plots will hopefully be developed adequately over upcoming issues.
