Some thoughts about Captain Marvel #1

Captain Marvel is currently trying to solve a case in another planet, how did this happen?

Carol Danvers is spending her day doing her usual superhero job while also working as a babysitter and trying to make her relationship with Rhodey work. However, she feels like something is missing something that she's not able to find on earth.

Well, I suppose this is why they dropped the "Earth's Mightiest Hero" sub-title.

I have to admit that i didn't read the previous volume of Captain Marvel but I was always intrigued about the idea of Carol Danver finally assuming the mantle so how does this work as a new volume?

I think it does a decent job but not much more than that sadly. Kelly Sue DeConnick's story focuses mostly on the personal aspects on the life of Carol instead of a bigger plot and in fact the best aspects come from the characterization which is solid but doesn't offer anything particularly unique about the superheroine.

Also, I don't know how the space story will resolve but it didn't exactly have a proper explanation about where it was going.

David Lopez is in charge of the art and he does a quite solid job at portraying both the action and character's expressions from all the members of the cast. Pretty satisfying artwork overall.

Again, this was a decent issue and I suppose that fans of Carol Danvers will enjoy it but it didn't do something particularly great for me.
