Animal Man has defeated all of the beings that have threatened his family, now there's only one thing for him to do, accept the lose of his son.
Maxine decides to tell Buddy a little tale that she has just created, a tale that he knows pretty well but still needs to hear, a tale that will let him and his family continue with their lifes and hopefully be happy again.
People, what can I say about this issue and series as a whole?
Since issue 1, Jeff Lemire has focused on the family elements of the Bakers while putting them in some of the most horrific situations one could imagine but also always demonstrating that the love that they share can't be broken so easily.
This issue was no different. The plot concentrates in both Buddy and Maxine and how the latter tells a story about all the events that have been ocurring to their family and more importantly, about how to accept the death of Cliff. It's simply one of the most heartful issues from this week and I must admit that almost made me cry.
The art is handled this time by both the original artist from the series, Travel Foreman and Jeff Lemire himself, with Foreman dealing with the real life segments and Lemire handling the fairy tale scenes. It's quite appropiate and it looks wonderful overall.
Goodnight Animal Man and thanks Jeff Lemire for a fantastic run.
