Some thoughts about Aquaman #29

Atlantis is a civilization that hides great mysteries, so much that not even its own king knows them all.

Due to Arthur's carelessness the Atlantis Trident has fallen into the hands of people who wants to discover more about Atlantis and its myths, unknowing that they would free a group of horrific creatures along with the being that defeated them the last time, the Olympian God Hercules.

Some people might be wondering why Hercules is appearing here since they initially solicitated that the character who was going to appear was Atlas. Well, there are rumours that Atlas is going to be used in another title (most likely Infinity Man and the Forever People) so they had to replace him for another kind of mythological God.

So how is the story? Well, Jeff Parker does a solid job as usual to create an interesting adventure for Aquaman and the introduction of some of Atlantis mysteries like the creatures that were sealed and the involvement of Hercules. That was well done.

Still, I feel like there's not enough about it. We barely get anything about the monsters' backstory and the history behind Hercules' sacrifice was just mentioned at the end, I don't think that the story is moving the way it should.

Paul Pelletier continues to deliver a majestic artwork by giving great detail to the different settings where the characters appear as well as creating unique characteristics for other creatures.

It's a solid issue overall but I hope that Parker delivers more content in the next one.
