Who are the biggest stars at the end of the world?
Josie had a whole life of fame and it turned to be a really long one, even longer than one would expect and people who are curious about it will have to pay big price.
You know, when I saw this issue coming I was all: "No way this issue will be as good as the last one, it will be hard to reach the terrifyingly realistic take on Reggie Mantle as a sociopath".
Well colour me surprised, is just as good actually.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa delivers a new chapter where he reinvents the classic characters Josie and the Pussycats for this horror title and obviously, he does the necessary changes to make such innocent people fit into this new and terrible world. It turns out that there's a history behind the band's longevity and is one the explore a classic supernatural myth that explores different eras and does it in a fascinating way.
The manner how the different times are adapted into their lives and how they also managed to get adapted to them is quite compelling. The character work works wonderfully as well by exploring the motivations behind their decisions and how it affected people around them. It's simply a perfectly told story.
Francesco Francavilla remains in art duties and his work continues to be appropriate as usual by making every shocking moment even more horrific while also showing a strange beauty about it.
Excellent issue, probably the best from this week.
