Can the Birds of Prey be able to work together to find Oracle?
Barbara needs to learn who stole her previous identity but having someone like Huntress killing suspects is just making things more complicated. Now both of them will have to pute their differences aside since there are more people involved here.
Well, this was definitely better than the Rebirth issue.
Julie and Shawna Benson bring a new chapter where they focus a bit on the backstory of the team just to go full into the main plot about who is the new Oracle. While the mystery behind it is interesting enough, the strongest aspect here is the dynamic between the characters. The contrast between Batgirl and Huntress personalities and methods is quickly explored and their differences make the interaction even more entertaining. The best aspect for me though, was Black Canary whose personality quickly shines here being a much more sarcastic and relaxed version of her. The dialogue also helps to define these portrayals.
If I have a complaint though, is that at points the differences between Barbara and Helena are depicted too on the nose at times with a whole page dedicated to them. It ends with a joke mind you but one can't help but notice how awkward it is. Other than that, no complaints, the plot progresses at a nice pace and is entertaining.
Clarie Roe returns to art duties and her work is much better. She's able to depict a great range of expressions for the cast and the overall style feels more polished.
Good stuff. I'm invested now.
