What's the truth behind the Batman legacy?
Dick Grayson is contemplating the reasons why he became Batman in the first place but now that he has his son back, he starts doubting his role. However, the threat of the Ultra-Humanite won't give him any time to think.
I have to give this to Dan Abnett: He's actually addressing the fact that Dick Grayson as the Batman of Earth 2 makes no sense.
Since the beginning, the writer starts exploring how the ill-conceived premise that Daniel H. Wilson came up with is completely illogical. What makes Dick Grayson worthy of the mantle? Abnett doesn't hold any punches and explains how Dick actually doesn't see himself as competent as Bruce, Thomas or Helena and how the latter actually deserves more the title than him. This is something that a lot of people have been waiting for and I'm glad that is finally being developed.
However, the writer does try to give an explanation behind Dick's actions and what motivates him to continue with his job which does makes sense and makes me appreciate his character much more.
Bruno Redondo and Diogenes Neves share art duties and their work is quite competent in their respective segments being in terms of character work or action scenes.
Quite solid installment. This character is fixed people.
