Some thoughts about Legends of Tomorrow #6

The Legend is over.

Firestorm's final stand against Multiplex is here. Metamorpho will feel loss once again. Sugar and Spike's craziest case has arrived. The Metal Men are dead.

This miniseries has come to an end but at least it was a satisfying one for the most part.

Gerry Conway brings the conclusion for his Firestorm story focusing on the conflict between the protagonist and Multiplex. Once again, the strongest point here is the concept behind the villain and how it presents good possibilities for the future. The character work and interaction remains solid and promise a new beginning. Eduardo Pansica handles the artwork and is good looking with a vibrant style and a great range of expressions.

The second segment belongs to Metamorpho by Aaron Lopresti and is still sadly the weakest. There are some things to appreciate like the concept of humanity the author creates while also giving the characters an interesting ending but all is told in a pretty unimpressive and dull manner, there isn't anything distinctive about the writing. Lopresti's artwork is the best part of it thanks to his clean style but again, he's not the best penciller here.

Victory comes for Sugar and Spike by Keith Giffen once again. The writer includes characters he's familiar with like the Legion of Super-Heroes just to make fun of the whole silliness of their premise including the multiple time travels that make Sugar's head hurt. Writing full of personality and humour. Bilquis Evely remains in art duties and her work is still quite distinctive with a pretty expressive style for the characters and a great sense of storytelling.

Finally Len Wein is in charge of Metal Men and he continues to surprise me by expanding the universe around the characters and including logical adversaries like Mother Machine from Blackhawks who hasn't been seen in a while. The writing is a bit dated at times with characters talking to themselves but is compensated with a great development for the property. Plus, Copper is back! Awesome! Yildiray Cinar handles the pencils and he's by far the best classic superhero artist here thanks to his vibrant style that bring a lot for action scenes.

Once again, I enjoyed Sugar and Spike the best with Metal Men, Firestorm and Metamorpho following it in that order. Despite of some shortcomings, this was a pretty worthwhile book.
