Supergirl's worlds are about to clash.
Kara has been trying to recover her powers for a while and this will need to happen quickier than expected due that a strange being from Krypton has just arrived to Earth.
A new beginning for the character is here. After a mostly solid last volume, Supergirl has been absent from the DC for a while and she has a new chance to shine. Does this issue manage to offer a promising jumping-on point?
Fortunately it does.
Steve Orlando brings an opening chapter where he barely talks about the last status quo for Kara including the absense of her powers but is enough to know what happened and immediately create the set-up for the new direction. Speaking of set-up, this issue is mostly full of it but is done in a pretty solid manner by referencing Kara's new family, supporting cast and lifestyle. It certainly does a good job at making this Rebirth installment new reader-friendly.
There are also several subplots being created here including the nature of Kara's father and how that is connected to the antagonist she's facing and of course, the upcoming appearance of Cyborg Superman.
Emanuela Luppachino handles the artwork and is simply stunning full of beautiful characters and a quite precise storytelling skill that makes the action scenes quite vibrant.
Not a lot happened here but what did was pretty enjoyable. High hopes for the upcoming run.
